NBC has canceled eight television programs and adjusted time slots for returning series as part of a major overhaul of its prime-time schedule for the 2026-2027 season.

The network finalized the changes after a wave of cancellations that ended several long-running and first-year shows, clearing multiple evening slots on the upcoming fall calendar.

One opening was given to the sophomore comedy "The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins," which moved from midseason to a permanent fall slot.

"We were really excited to bring Reggie back in the fall," said Lisa Katz, President of Scripted Content at NBCUniversal Television and Streaming.

"It did really well, and the opportunity to have that back on quickly is great for the show, and we think for the fans."

The network also shifted its flagship procedural "Law & Order" from Thursdays at 8 p. m.

Eastern Time to the 10 p. m.

slot. A new civilian edition of "The Traitors" will occupy the vacant 8 p.

m. Thursday slot, altering NBC's historical reliance on scripted Thursday programs.

"'Traitors' on Peacock is a bona fide hit, so we are super excited that we can have a civilian 'Traitors' to launch a night on NBC, and Thursday is perfect for it," said Jeff Bader, President of Program Planning Strategy.

Among the canceled shows is "The Kelly Clarkson Show," which ends after seven seasons. The syndicated talk show concludes following changes in host Kelly Clarkson's family dynamics.

"I think everybody probably gets the timing," Clarkson said. "Our family life, the dynamic changed a bit, and it has changed for a minute now.

You got kids, we’ve all got kids, and it’s one of those things when you kind of start seeing life as how precious it is, too.

It’s like, ‘You know what, I’m really busy.'"

The medical drama "Brilliant Minds" was canceled after two seasons due to low linear ratings.

The freshman comedy "Stumble" was also dropped despite a 96% audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Other canceled programs include "Access Hollywood" (30 years), "Access Daily," "The Steve Wilkos Show" (19 seasons), "Law & Order: Organized Crime" (5 seasons), and "Karamo" (4 seasons).

The fall schedule will introduce "Line of Fire," a drama starring Peter Krause and Hope Davis, and the comedy "Newlyweds" featuring Téa Leoni and Tim Daly.

The drama "The Rockford Files" and comedy "Sunset P. I."
