A motorist fled on foot onto the A58 highway near Bavel on Monday evening after law enforcement officers attempted to conduct a vehicle inspection, according to a social media statement from the police.
The Zeeland-West-Brabant Traffic Police reported that the vehicle initially pulled over onto the exit lane, but the driver suddenly ran away during the inspection.

This prompted a brief chase before the man vanished from sight.
Multiple police units launched a search operation in the area, but authorities were unable to locate the fleeing suspect.
The officers recognized the driver from prior encounters and confirmed that his identity is known to the department.
"Hij zal zich op een later moment moeten komen verantwoorden," stated the traffic police in a published message, indicating he will have to answer for his actions at a later time.

Officials also disclosed that the individual has a significant history of unresolved traffic violations.

The vehicle itself was no longer at the scene when officers returned to the exit lane, as the passenger had taken control of the car and driven away from the area.
