Metro Vancouver is experiencing a significant warm-up during the first week of June 2026, with temperatures climbing well above seasonal norms before a Pacific trough triggers a rainy weekend.

Environment and Climate Change Canada reports that inland areas will reach 28°C on Monday and 29°C on Tuesday.

Coastal regions will see highs near 21°C on Monday, while daytime temperatures across the region will hover around 20°C on Wednesday and Thursday.

Humidity will make conditions feel even warmer. High UV indexes of 7 are forecast for both Monday and Tuesday.

Humidex and Heat Safety

“It’s not really temperature, per se, but it’s more of how it might feel,” said Bobby Sekhon, a meteorologist with Environment and Climate Change Canada.

“Of course, that takes into account the temperature and the amount of moisture in the air.”

The agency noted online that the humidex reading can help people make informed decisions about outdoor activities and heat-related health risks.

Humidity will make inland heat feel like 28°C on Monday and up to 31°C on Tuesday.

“Right now, there’s a high-pressure system keeping things pretty warm and consistently clear, with a temperature increase in the next few days,” explained Chloe Katsademas, also a meteorologist with Environment and Climate Change Canada.

Clear skies will give way to precipitation as the high-pressure system moves out later in the week. “Later in the week, there’s a trough approaching from the Pacific.

At the end of the week, into the weekend, there will be precipitation,” Katsademas added.

Showers and periods of rain are forecast for Friday and Saturday. Daytime highs will drop to 15°C, with overnight lows reaching 10°C on both days.

Long-term summer projections show broader warming trends.
