Meteorologists project that a substantial storm system tracking across the prairies will dump between 50 and 100 millimeters of rain through Wednesday.
The affected area stretches from Fort McMurray down to Lethbridge.
Authorities warned that excessive precipitation will likely cause water pooling on roadways. Potential washouts near local culverts, creeks, and rivers are also a concern.
A separate special weather statement indicates that the southeastern Kootenay region of British Columbia will experience up to 80 millimeters of rainfall over a five-day period.
Forecasters noted significant atmospheric instability regarding the exact path of the incoming weather pattern.
"A potent Alberta low pressure system will bring moderate to heavy rain to southeastern B. C.
this weekend and into early next week," the Saturday statement said.
Meteorologists emphasized that precipitation totals will vary significantly across the impacted provincial territories due to tracking volatility.

The British Columbia provincial government issued an official social media update confirming that multiple local communities have been placed under active evacuation alerts.
Officials urged residents in threatened zones to secure their property and prepare for immediate displacement if conditions deteriorate.
"High water levels can pose a threat to life & safety. Impacted residents must be ready to leave on short notice," the post said.
Numerous river systems throughout the Kootenay region and surrounding areas remain under active flood watches and warnings. Provincial emergency personnel are monitoring water levels as the rain intensifies.
Addressing the developing weather crisis on Saturday, Alberta Premier Danielle Smith discussed the provincial response infrastructure during her provincewide radio broadcast.
Smith stated that emergency management teams are fully prepared to assist vulnerable municipalities.
She noted the current threat matrix differs from previous catastrophic climate events.
