Emergency services in Arnhem launched a large-scale search operation on Sunday evening after reports that a person had jumped from the John Frost Bridge into the Rhine River.
The incident occurred around dusk on June 7, 2026, prompting a rapid response from police, fire departments, and a police helicopter.

A rescue boat from the Noordoost-Gelderland Rescue Brigade, already stationed nearby for the Free Your Mind Festival at the ASM site, also joined the search on the water.
Individual Swims to Safety
Witnesses later reported that the individual managed to swim to the riverbank independently after making the jump.
A spokesperson for the Veiligheidsregio Gelderland-Midden confirmed that the person exited the water without assistance.

“When we receive a report of a person in the water, emergency services respond.
But because the person got out of the water independently, we can stand down,” the spokesperson said.
Following confirmation that the individual was safe on land, all emergency units called off the search and departed the scene.

Authorities have not released any information regarding the identity of the person or the specific circumstances surrounding the incident.
