Amtrak police officers apprehended a male suspect in his 50s following a stabbing incident at Penn Station in Manhattan on Sunday evening.
The attack occurred shortly after 7 p. m.

on June 7, 2026, on the NJ Transit concourse, according to the New York City Fire Department.
Five people were injured in the knife attack. Authorities described the suspect as emotionally disturbed, but the motive remains unknown.
Emergency responders transported all five victims to Bellevue Hospital. One victim sustained serious injuries, two suffered moderate injuries, and two had minor injuries.
None of the injuries are life-threatening, and all victims are expected to survive, according to abcnews. com.

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani expressed his support for the victims in a social media statement.
"My heart is with everyone who was injured, their loved ones, and all those shaken by this unacceptable violence," Mamdani said.
The mayor thanked emergency personnel for managing the scene and containing the threat.

"I'm wishing each of the victims a full and speedy recovery," Mamdani added, praising the swift response by Amtrak Police and other first responders.
