A 25-year-old woman was taken into custody Sunday morning after allegedly shooting and seriously wounding a 25-year-old man inside the Hilton Philadelphia at Penn's Landing, according to the Philadelphia Police Department.

Authorities responded to the hotel in the 200 block of South Columbus Boulevard around 10:20 a. m.

following reports of gunfire.

Upon arrival, the female suspect identified herself as the shooter and surrendered her firearm to the responding officers.

Investigators stated that the shooting occurred inside a ninth-floor room and followed an apparent physical altercation.

The suspect sustained unspecified injuries during the encounter and was transported to a local hospital for medical evaluation.

Police are currently investigating reports of prior domestic disputes between the individual who was shot and the woman in custody.

Emergency medical personnel located the male victim on a hotel stairway near the room where the altercation took place.

First responders transported the victim to Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, where medical staff subsequently upgraded his condition from critical to stable.
