Steven Kilian, a former boxing champion and convicted ATM bomber, released a memoir on June 7, 2026.

The book, titled "Plofkraker – Vol gas, harde klappen en de lange weg terug," details his experiences leading a notorious criminal gang and his eight-year prison sentence.

The 39-year-old Utrecht native wrote the memoir to warn youth about the severe risks of a life of crime.

Kilian amassed significant wealth as a leader of an ATM bombing network known as the "Audibende" twelve years ago.

The gang targeted automated teller machines in Germany using high-powered Audi RS6 vehicles.

According to reports by RTV Utrecht, Kilian received a ten-year prison sentence for leading a criminal organization.

He was released in March after serving eight years and is currently on a two-year probation period.

Kilian described high-speed escapes from Germany back to Utrecht during his criminal operations. "'Later, Pik!

De groeten uit Utreg!'

Twee keer gas geven en we waren met twee vingers in de neus weer verdwenen in de duisternis," he said.

The criminal lifestyle led to severe personal consequences, including loss of his job, home, and relationship, as well as permanent physical injuries.

"Je hebt foute dingen gedaan, daar moet je gewoon voor boeten," Kilian said.

During his detention in 2021, an assault by a fellow inmate left Kilian with severe burns after boiling oil was poured over him.

"Dan is er niemand die je helpt. Ik moest echt zalf op de muren smeren om mijn rug te kunnen verzorgen," he recalled.

The isolation and physical recovery in prison prompted Kilian to begin writing using a pencil and paper provided in solitary confinement.

"Ze zien het snelle geld, maar zo zit het leven niet in elkaar. Het komt niet vanzelf aanwaaien, zo snel.

En als het al wel komt, dan komt het met gigantische risico's die je niet wilt," he said.

Kilian now intends to use his life story and a planned boxing school to mentor at-risk youth away from criminal paths, according to reporting by Nieuwslens.
