Infrastructure damage occurred when a fallen tree brought down live power cables on the A272 between North Chailey and Piltdown in East Sussex.

Heavy rainfall is forecast to impact multiple areas across south-east England as the system progresses.

A Met Office spokesperson said: "Some disruption to weekend activities and events is possible, alongside a risk of power outages and some low level travel disruption."

Wind gusts between 45 mph and 50 mph are expected along the coastlines and throughout Cornwall, with the potential to reach 55 mph in highly exposed areas.
