Environment Canada issued multiple tornado warnings on Tuesday afternoon as a line of severe thunderstorms advanced through the Pembina Valley.

The warnings targeted the Municipality of Pembina, Thompson, and Dufferin before weather officials canceled all tornado threats for the region shortly before 6 p.

Possible Tornado Sighted Near Miami

Local residents documented the severe weather system.

One citizen captured video footage of an apparent tornado on the ground three miles south of Miami, according to a report by PembinaValleyOnline.

Weather experts reviewed the visual evidence to verify the atmospheric conditions affecting the R. M.

of Thompson during the active warning period.

"Storm chasers in the region, around the same time, captured similar looking events," explained Chris Sumner, CMOS Accredited Weathercaster for PembinaValleyOnline.

The meteorological specialist analyzed the rotation patterns visible within the cloud formations during the afternoon storm.

"There is clearly rotation and you can see it is attempting to form all the way to the base of the cloud deck," Sumner said.

Severe thunderstorm warnings remained in effect for the region following the expiration of the immediate tornado threats.
