Mayor Anne Mulder of Halderberge temporarily closed a catering building in Oudenbosch on Thursday, May 28.
The decision followed a discovery by the local Room Rental Task Force that three people were living there illegally under highly unsafe conditions.

The building lacks a residential zoning designation, which prompted the initial inspection. Authorities evacuated the premises immediately to ensure the safety of the occupants.
Task Force Operation
The property reopened the following morning after a follow-up inspection.
The operation was conducted by the Room Rental Task Force, a specialized team established by the municipality in 2023 to tackle illegal housing and improve neighborhood safety.
Since its inception, the task force has inspected 108 addresses: 40 in 2023, 30 in 2024, and 38 in 2025.

Mayor Mulder stated, "We do not accept that people are placed in unsafe conditions or that homes are misused.
With this task force, we protect our environment and ensure that homes become available again for our residents.
That is very much needed these days."
