Victims’ Connections to Community

University President Mark Nook said she was an exceptional student prepared to teach third grade at McKinley Elementary School this fall.
“Like many of you, I am struggling to comprehend how so many vibrant lives could be taken from us so quickly,” Nook said.
He added that faculty remembered her as a delightful young woman with a bright future.
Lisa McFarland worked in nutrition services at Susan Clark Junior High, where 13-year-old Ryan Jr. had just finished seventh grade.
Mark McFarland had completed his junior year at Muscatine High School and worked at Pizza Ranch. Austin Harris had been an employee at Musco Lighting for seven years.
