Amazon has canceled a planned Stargate revival television series from creator Martin Gero before production could begin, according to a report from Variety on June 2, 2026.
The decision comes just seven months after the company announced the science-fiction franchise would return to development under Gero's leadership.

Commercial Viability Concerns
Corporate executives reportedly developed reservations about the project's commercial viability during its early stages.
Sources told Variety that Amazon's top brass grew concerned that Gero's take on the series would not have broad appeal beyond the franchise's existing fanbase.
