Royal Canadian Mounted Police divers recovered the bodies of two missing paddleboarders on Tuesday afternoon from Browning Lake within Murrin Provincial Park near Squamish, British Columbia.

The search began around 3 p. m.

on Saturday, May 30, after reports that two individuals fell from their paddleboard and did not resurface.

Family members identified the deceased as recently married couple Genesis Jeru Bague and Mariz Bello, originally from the Philippines.

The brother of the deceased man, Genesis Hanzel Bague, said the couple loved the outdoors and that his brother hoped to become a British Columbia police officer.

Multi-Agency Search Operation

A coordinated search effort was launched immediately on Saturday, involving Squamish Search and Rescue, the B. C.

Conservation Officer Service, Squamish Fire Rescue, B. C.

Emergency Health Services, and an RCMP helicopter.

The joint search continued through the weekend before RCMP divers located the victims on Tuesday.

Staff Sgt. Sasha Banks, Operations Commander of the Squamish RCMP, expressed gratitude for the multi-agency response.

"We are deeply grateful for the dedicated support and coordinated efforts of our specialized teams and partner agencies who assisted in this search and recovery," Banks said.

The popular park in the Sea-to-Sky region remained closed during the search operations, which concluded with the recovery of the couple.
