Mike Myers was honored with the Academy Icon Award at the Canadian Screen Awards on Sunday, celebrating his decades-long career in comedy.
The Toronto-born actor and comedian used the moment to reflect on his roots and the people who shaped his journey.

Myers began his speech by joking about his original plan.
"I had a whole speech written about how much I love Canada, but I suspect some of you might be sick of hearing that, at this point," he said.
The audience responded with playful boos.
He then turned serious, thanking his parents for moving to Canada and teaching him to embrace humor, becoming visibly emotional.

The star of Austin Powers and Wayne's World also praised several Canadian peers who supported him. He specifically thanked Martin Short for his professional guidance over the years.
Myers also acknowledged Eugene Levy, John Candy, and the late Catherine O'Hara as important influences.
He credited his upbringing in Scarborough, Ontario, for teaching him essential life skills. "The three Fs.
