Dutch singer Mart Hoogkamer has publicly expressed deep shame following his father's arrest during a major police operation involving a helicopter on Whit Monday.

The 28-year-old artist revealed his distress over the situation, which emerged during a highly positive period in his personal life.

Hoogkamer confirmed that he has no intention of reuniting with his father.

“I am a bit ashamed of it. I am his son and I carry his name.

I am still looked at as being his son,” Hoogkamer told RTL Boulevard.

The investigation centers on Mart senior and his girlfriend, Natasja, who are suspected of threatening a woman with a firearm or a replica weapon on Calandstraat in Leiden.

“I do not approve of it, never. He is crazy if you see the footage,” the singer added.

The vocalist explained that the public nature of the scandal feels like an intentional disruption aimed at his household, particularly since he now has a partner and a young daughter, Logan Nová, who was born in January last year.

“If it has to come out now when I have a child and a girlfriend, then you can really make me angry,” Hoogkamer stated.

The performer noted that his relationship with his father had already been broken for several years prior to this incident.

“It now seems as if they are trying to terrorize my family. I would almost think this was done deliberately,” Hoogkamer remarked about the timing.

When questioned about who might be responsible, the artist stated he lacked answers due to a complete absence of meaningful communication.

“I don't know. For the last three years I have had no good contact with him,” Hoogkamer revealed.

He recalled receiving alarming updates a few months ago suggesting his father was near death, but he received no subsequent information and firmly rules out any future reconciliation.

“I was told he was dying,” the musician recalled.

The singer emphasized that his father has never met his daughter, and he plans to maintain strict distance to ensure the safety of his household.

“I want no contact with him myself,” Hoogkamer asserted.

Any potential future dialogue would require a private, one-on-one meeting, though the singer doubts it will ever happen after viewing the recent events.

“If I had to talk to him, it would first be one-on-one, but after what I have seen now, I don't think that will happen.

Purely for the safety of my own family,” Hoogkamer explained.

The Public Prosecution Service announced in late May 2026 that Mart senior and his partner had been released under specific conditions and will face a judge at a later date while the investigation continues.
