A California jury has ordered Rebecca Grossman and Scott Erickson to pay $176 million in damages to the family of Mark and Jacob Iskander.

The civil verdict, reached in June 2026, holds both defendants liable for the hit-and-run deaths of the two brothers in 2020.

The fatal incident occurred in September 2020 in Westlake Village, California.

Authorities said Grossman and Erickson left a restaurant in separate vehicles and engaged in street racing before Grossman struck the children at a crosswalk.

Nancy Iskander, the mother of the victims, testified during the civil proceedings in May 2026.

She described the moment of the collision and finding her son Mark severely injured.

Grossman continued driving for about one-third of a mile after the crash until her vehicle's safety system disabled the engine.

At her criminal sentencing in June 2024, she stated she never saw the children.

Grossman was convicted in February 2024 of two counts of murder, two counts of gross vehicular manslaughter, and one count of hit-and-run driving resulting in death.

She received a prison sentence of 15 years to life.

Erickson faced a single misdemeanor count of reckless driving, which was dismissed after he participated in a safe driving public service video.

The civil jury determined he acted in concert with Grossman, leading to joint liability.

Attorney Brian Panish, representing the Iskander family, spoke about accountability before the jury reached its decision.

He emphasized that bad choices have consequences and that a day of reckoning had arrived.

The civil verdict also named Grossman's husband, Peter Grossman, as a defendant because he registered ownership of the vehicle driven during the crash.
