Marvel Studios has upgraded multiple visual effects shots in the latest international trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day ahead of its theatrical release on July 31.
The modified footage introduces enhanced lighting, detailed backgrounds, and a new bridge structure during a battle scene between the titular hero and the villain Tarantula.

A Return to Classic Spider-Man
According to Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige, the project represents a thematic shift back to basics for the character within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
"It is the first Spider-Man film that we’ve made in the MCU that is focused on the classic elements of Spider-Man," Feige explained to Empire.
The Marvel chief noted that the narrative repositions Peter Parker away from high-tech mentorships and multiversal conflicts to replicate his traditional comic book roots.
"He’s doing the Spidey thing of living in a rather sad, small apartment, listening to the police scanner and going out and using his great power responsibly," Feige added.
This environmental reset directly follows the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home, leaving Peter Parker isolated from his past relationships.
Fan speculation on Reddit suggests this new setting will integrate other comic storylines, specifically regarding MJ's new partner played by Eman Esfandi.
"Makes a lot of sense that MJ's new boyfriend is Tarantula or Boomerang instead of a genuinely nice guy," wrote one fan, TheCommish-17, in a thread analyzing a newly released promotional poster.
Commenters highlighted that introducing a classic antagonist into Peter's personal life mirrors specific comic narratives where heroes and villains unknowingly share living spaces.

"It'll be easier for her to break up with him and get back together with Peter when they find out he's a villain," TheCommish-17 added.
Other online analysts suggested that the character dynamics could influence how MJ and Ned Leeds investigate the masked hero's identity.
"Also kinda works with MJ and Ned trying to track Spider-Man," another fan, Nathsu29, added.
The community noted that the plot device creates organic tension while preventing an immediate reversal of previous narrative stakes.
"Either she could suspect Esfandi's character is Spider-Man or she's naturally drawn to people with those kind of secrets," Nathsu29 continued.
Comic readers specifically cited the 2018-2021 Amazing Spider-Man publication run as the likely inspiration for these character interactions.
"Boomerang has a funny relationship with Peter for little while in the comics, with the two of them being roommates and not knowing each other's secret identity," wrote Pupulauls9000.
Forum participants concluded that the comedic tone of the source material matches the projected live-action adaptation.

"I'd say he's Boomerang, the comedic rivalry fits how he is in the comics," added TheCommish-17.
