Rising temperatures in North Brabant will soon give way to severe weather as thunderstorms are expected to hit the province during the upcoming weekend.

The weather shift follows consecutive days of intense heat across the region.

According to meteorologist Jeroen Elferink from Weerplaza on Thursday, May 28, 2026, the temporary relief from the heat will transition into more turbulent weather patterns by Friday evening.

"Er komen een paar flinke onweersbuien aan," said Elferink during the radio program KEIgoeiemorgen!.

The region experienced a cooler morning on Thursday due to a northern wind, which helped lower indoor temperatures before afternoon highs reached 27 degrees Celsius.

Elferink noted that temperatures would continue to climb even higher the following day, reaching 32 degrees Celsius on Friday.

Weekend Weather Outlook

The weather conditions are projected to become more dynamic as the weekend begins, with the eastern part of North Brabant facing potential storms first.

While Saturday will remain mostly dry with plenty of sunshine and temperatures around 28 degrees Celsius, the extreme southern edge of the province might experience an isolated thunderstorm.

A significant cooling trend will arrive by Sunday, causing temperatures to drop to 22 degrees Celsius.

This cooler climate, accompanied by occasional showers, is expected to persist into the following week.

Despite the incoming rain, the meteorologist emphasized that the region has enjoyed an extended period of pleasant weather.

He highlighted that the natural environment is currently in desperate need of precipitation before the official start of the summer season.
