Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing has announced a safety recall for 43,566 of its 2024 Tundra pickup trucks equipped with V35A engines.

The recall addresses potential engine contamination that could lead to sudden power loss.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration disclosed the recall on May 25, 2026. Federal safety officials reported that debris left behind during manufacturing can contaminate the engine.

This contamination may cause a main bearing to fail, leading to engine knocking, rough running, stalling, or a total failure to start.

The safety agency warned that an engine stall could result in a sudden loss of drive power, increasing the risk of a crash, especially at higher speeds.

Approximately 1% of the recalled pickup trucks are estimated to have this specific manufacturing defect.

This latest action under NHTSA recall number 26V320 expands on two previous recalls issued in May 2024 and November 2025.

Those earlier recalls involved similar engine contamination concerns in certain 2022 through 2024 Lexus LX and Toyota Tundra models, as well as some 2024 Lexus GX vehicles.

The NHTSA recall report did not immediately list any crashes, injuries, or fatalities connected to the issue.

Remedy and Notification

Toyota did not immediately respond to requests for comment regarding the safety campaign. A permanent remedy for the engine defect is currently under development by the automaker.

Once the repair solution is finalized, Toyota will perform the necessary fixes free of charge for all affected vehicle owners.

Notification letters informing owners of the safety risk are scheduled to be mailed out on July 6, 2026.
