A cyclist sustained minor injuries after being struck by a police vehicle during a high-speed pursuit in Drachten on Friday evening, June 5, 2026.
The incident occurred around 9:15 p. m.

on the Ureterpvallaat when officers attempted to block a fleeing scooter, according to reports from WaldNet and NoorderNieuws.
Officers initially spotted the scooter speeding on the Hegebrechsterleane in Ureterp before launching the pursuit.
The chase was immediately halted following the collision so police could tend to the victim.

Ambulance personnel treated the local cyclist at the scene before the individual was transferred to a doctor's post for further medical assistance.
"Het slachtoffer is ter plaatse nagekeken door het ambulancepersoneel. Hij raakte lichtgewond en is naar de dokterspost gebracht voor behandeling," said Weidema.
The cyclist passed a breathalyzer test at the scene, confirming no alcohol consumption.

The scooter rider successfully escaped the area and remains at large following an unsuccessful police search.
