A 39-year-old motorcyclist has died following a collision with a bus in Crawley town centre.

The incident occurred on The Boulevard at approximately 8:20 p. m.

Emergency services attended the scene and the local resident was pronounced deceased at the site.

His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.

The road between High Street and College Road was closed for several hours for investigation work.

Sussex Police have launched an ongoing investigation into the circumstances of the fatal crash.

In a social media statement on the night, Crawley Police said: "We are currently responding to a serious collision involving a bus and a motorcyclist in Crawley.

The incident occurred in The Boulevard about 8.22pm this evening (4 June).

Emergency services remain at the scene and we would urge the public to avoid the area in the meantime."

The following day, police confirmed the fatality and asked the public not to share social media footage of the crash out of respect for the family.

A Sussex Police spokesperson said: "Sadly, the motorcyclist, a 39-year-old man from Crawley, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

His next of kin have been informed and our thoughts remain with them at this difficult time."

Investigators are appealing for witnesses who may have captured the incident on dashcam, CCTV, mobile phones, or doorbell cameras.

"An investigation into the circumstances of the collision is ongoing, and officers are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed what happened or captured any relevant CCTV, dash cam, mobile phone or doorbell footage," the spokesperson added.
