The Clearwater Police Department in Florida officially closed its investigation into the death of professional wrestling legend Hulk Hogan on Friday, June 5, 2026, concluding that the 71-year-old died of natural causes.

Authorities released a 72-page investigative report and witness statements regarding Hogan, whose legal name was Terry Gene Bollea, after reviewing medical history and internal home surveillance footage to rule out foul play.

Police determined that Bollea suffered a medical emergency and cardiac arrest at his Clearwater home before being pronounced dead at Morton Plant Hospital.

A private family autopsy later confirmed the absence of traumatic or toxicological factors.

The inquiry began after Bollea's occupational therapist, Justin McCamey, raised speculation about potential medical malpractice from a prior surgery.

McCamey later clarified to investigators that he was not a specialist and was merely guessing based on rumors.

The department addressed public interest surrounding the death of the WWE Hall of Famer, who had suffered from chronic lymphocytic leukemia, atrial fibrillation, and numerous orthopedic surgeries.

"Under the circumstances, it fell to the Clearwater Police Department to address, challenge or validate some of the concerns in the case," stated the official release.

Investigators interviewed multiple witnesses and reviewed various recordings to answer questions central to the inquiry.

Dana Swinton, Bollea's home health aide, said she arrived at 7 a. m.

Swinton and McCamey noted that Bollea had been talking and eating normally just minutes before he suddenly stopped breathing.

His wife, Sky Daily, contacted emergency services, saying, "My husband, it doesn't seem like he's breathing."

Medical personnel performed CPR at the residence, but the legendary multi-time heavyweight champion could not be revived.

"Following an exhaustive review of the statements, medical records, surveillance footage from within the residence, and a visual inspection of Mr. Bollea's body, there has been no evidence to indicate the death of Terry Bollea was anything other than natural," wrote investigators in the final report.

The report formally established that no criminal activity contributed to the death of the global pop culture icon.

"Through the course of the investigation, there has been no evidence to indicate any criminal wrongdoing related to his death," added investigators.

Law enforcement expressed gratitude toward the wrestling star's family members, including Sky, Nick, and Brooke Bollea, for granting access to personal medical files during the lengthy probe.

"We want to thank the family of Mr. Bollea – Sky, Nick and Brooke – and their attorney, Kevin Hayslett, for their cooperation," said the department.

The investigation remained active for nearly a year following a statute of limitations extension petition filed by the family in October.

"Their willingness to allow our investigators access to very personal information, at a time when they were grieving and struggling, was extremely helpful," concluded the Clearwater Police Department statement.
