Employees at SoFi Stadium have voted overwhelmingly to authorize a strike, just days before the venue is set to host 2026 FIFA World Cup matches.
The vote, held Friday evening, saw 96% of union members in favor of the action, according to UNITE HERE Local 11.

The labor action involves cashiers, dishwashers, cooks, and bartenders.
A union spokesperson said workers “could walk off the job at any moment if their demands are not met.”
Negotiations Resume Monday
Negotiations between the union and management are scheduled to resume on Monday.
That meeting will take place four days before the opening World Cup match between the United States and Paraguay at the Inglewood stadium.
The union has outlined several core demands.
These include living wages, limits on artificial intelligence, technology, and subcontracting, as well as the right to strike if immigration enforcement agents enter the workplace.
On wages, the union said workers seek “pay that reflects the true cost of living in Los Angeles, including premium pay for World Cup and other mega-events, and payment to a housing fund to build housing for hospitality workers.”

Technological changes are also a major concern.
The union is looking for “strong protections against the erosion of union jobs through unimpeded subcontracting and technology and automation.”
Immigration enforcement protections form the final pillar of the strike platform.
The union argues workers should have the right to walk off the job if federal immigration enforcement enters SoFi Stadium, adding “no worker should have to choose between their job and their freedom.”
A representative for SoFi Stadium did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
The tournament runs from June 11 to July 19, 2026, featuring 104 matches.
SoFi Stadium is scheduled to host eight matches, starting with USA versus Paraguay on Friday, June 12 at 6 p.
