The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) and the National Weather Service have issued air quality advisories for 21 counties across southeast and northeast Wisconsin.
The advisories are in effect on June 3 and June 4, 2026, due to elevated ozone levels.

Environmental officials expanded the initial alerts to cover a broad region, including Milwaukee, Kenosha, and Brown counties.
The ozone Air Quality Index is expected to range from unhealthy for sensitive groups to unhealthy for all residents.
Lake Breezes Contribute to Ozone Accumulation
According to the Wisconsin DNR, lake breezes moving from Sheboygan south to Kenosha have significantly contributed to ground-level ozone accumulation along the Lake Michigan shoreline and Green Bay bayshore areas.

Authorities advised sensitive groups, including individuals with asthma, to shorten and reduce the intensity of outdoor activities.
They recommend scheduling necessary outdoor tasks for the morning hours when ozone concentrations are lower. Asthmatics are instructed to keep quick-relief medicine accessible.
The advisory prompted weather agencies, including FOX6 and TMJ4 News, to track conditions across impacted counties.

Affected counties include Waukesha, Ozaukee, Racine, Walworth, Washington, Jefferson, Rock, Calumet, Door, Fond du Lac, Kewaunee, Manitowoc, Marinette, Oconto, Outagamie, and Winnebago.
