Authorities identified Handy on Thursday as the prolific character actor known for roles in "Logan," "Jumanji," and "Top Gun: Maverick."

Officers responded to an emergency call at approximately 9:30 a. m.

after a 911 caller stated, "I am the son of man. I just killed the man of sin."

The suspect, Michael Gledhill, flagged down responding officers and identified himself as the perpetrator.

Police found Handy unconscious in the front yard with a stab wound to his chest.

Paramedics transported him to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Investigators revealed that Gledhill lived at the Erwin Street home with his mother, who was in a relationship with Handy.

Handy accumulated more than 150 acting credits during a career spanning from the 1970s through recent major film releases.

He appeared in the 2021 comedy film "Senior Entourage" as Father MacGuffin.

Director Brian Connors posted on Facebook last year that Handy was one of the "finest character actors I know."

Handy also frequently appeared in television crime dramas including "Alias," "Criminal Minds," and "NCIS: Los Angeles."
