Ford Motor Company has issued an urgent safety recall affecting nearly 425,000 vehicles, including a "Do Not Drive" advisory for certain models due to a suspension defect that could cause loss of control.
The recall covers 4,653 units of the 2021-2026 Bronco Sport and 2022-2026 Maverick.

The front lower control arm ball joints may have been improperly installed or repaired, increasing crash risk.
Separately, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration expanded a previous recall involving nearly 420,000 Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator models from 2018 to 2022.
These vehicles have seat belts that may not retract or extend properly, posing injury risk during a crash.

Dealers are prohibited from selling or delivering any affected new vehicles, with civil penalties up to $27,168 per vehicle for violations.
Ford is covering all towing, mobile inspection, and repair costs. Rental car coverage is pre-approved for up to 30 days if parts are needed.
Owners who paid out-of-pocket for suspension repairs before June 19, 2026, are eligible for refunds.

Owners are advised not to drive their vehicles until repairs are completed. Notification letters for the suspension issue will be mailed by June 5, 2026.
