Actress Regina Hall is officially returning to the "Scary Movie" franchise for its upcoming sixth installment, marking her first appearance in the comedy-parody series since 2006.

Hall, who portrays Brenda Meeks, did not appear in the fifth installment released in 2013, making this project a major reunion with original co-stars Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans, and Anna Faris.

The actress expressed immense gratitude for the opportunity, reflecting on how her initial audition for director Keenen Ivory Wayans significantly impacted her career before the original film achieved its current status.

"Auditioning for Keenen [Ivory Wayans, director of Scary Movie 1 and 2] was like the best thing that had ever happened to me!"

recalled Hall.

Hall noted that working alongside the original cast members again felt completely natural and highlighted that the writers have maintained the classic comedic style of the franchise.

"It was like riding a bike as soon as we got on set," said Hall.

Brenda's Evolution and Iconic Status

The upcoming film explores the evolution of Brenda, who is now depicted as a loving mother while maintaining her long-standing relationship with the character Ray.

"She and Ray have something timeless. True love never dies.

She knows he's had some trauma that he's trying to let go. She knows he is certainly not looking at any other woman.

And she also knows Ray has found the Lord," stated Hall.

Hall also emphasized the historic nature of her character surviving through multiple installments of a horror parody franchise.

"I think it is the first time a Black woman has survived that long in a horror movie franchise.

That's iconic in and of itself. Well, the b*tch is back again," said Hall.

Producer Rick Alvarez expressed excitement about collaborating with the returning cast members, praising Hall for her strong presence and ability to elevate the performances of those around her.

"It has been an absolute joy to work with Anna and Regina on this film.

I've been lucky to work with Regina somewhat recently and it's always incredible to see how she can anchor an entire cast and at the same time bring the kind of comedic heat that challenges everyone to be their best," said Alvarez.

Director Michael Tiddes echoed these sentiments, noting that Brenda remains an unpredictable and electric presence on screen due to the distinct balance in the performance.

"Watching Regina step back into Brenda was incredible because the character still feels completely electric and unpredictable the second she walks on screen… What Regina does so brilliantly is balance that outrageous comedy with this weirdly genuine heart underneath it all," noted Tiddes.

Tiddes further explained that the production aims to bring back a style of bold, theatrical comedy that modern audiences have been missing.

"We wanted 'Scary Movie' to feel dangerous again, like anything could happen, nobody is safe, and every scene is trying to top the last in the funniest, wildest way possible," said Tiddes.

The director stated that the film serves as a revival for unfiltered cinematic comedy, positioning the upcoming release at the forefront of this genre shift.

"I really believe R-rated comedy is back, and 'Scary Movie' is leading the charge by crossing every line," added Tiddes.
