This marks the first time either lawyer has faced disciplinary measures.
The penalties stem from a complaint filed by a former client involved in a sexual assault case.
The board found that Geert-Jan Knoops failed to provide a written warning about the risks of changing his legal statement, compromising the client's reliability.
Additionally, the council criticized Geert-Jan Knoops for charging excessive fees in a limited-scope criminal case.
He did not supply a prior cost estimate, resulting in confusing and non-transparent invoices.

Carry Knoops similarly breached financial integrity standards through excessive billing.
The board noted she also omitted a clear cost estimate, a transparent confirmation of the assignment, and organized invoices for the client.
When contacted by local broadcaster AT5, the attorneys initially declined to comment.
Geert-Jan Knoops later criticized the ruling in an interview with Algemeen Dagblad, stating he had never documented his process strategy in 40 years of practice.
