The Monday, June 1, 2026, episode of EastEnders, released early on BBC iPlayer, delivered a tragic twist as four-year-old Jordan Fox was left unresponsive after a hit-and-run involving Ian Beale.

The incident occurred during Ross and Vicki's wedding reception in Albert Square, where multiple storylines converged.

Ian Beale, who had stayed sober to drive, consumed one pint after encouragement from Kathy and Peter.

He was also secretly flirting with Elaine and making peace with ex-wife Cindy.

An argument between Cindy and a heavily intoxicated Kathy prompted Ian to drive his mother home early.

Meanwhile, Chelsea Fox struggled to manage her son Jordan, who was running riot and insulting guests. Chelsea was unaware of her mother Denise's recent blood cancer diagnosis.

Chelsea later went to the dancefloor with Mark Jr., leading to a physical confrontation between Mark and Zack before Lauren intervened.

Zack went outside with Chelsea, and the two nearly kissed before Jordan interrupted, holding golden balloons.

Frustrated, Chelsea yelled at Jordan and ordered him inside, but he ran away from the reception.

As Ian reversed his car, a distracted Kathy changed the car stereo, causing Ian to hit something.

Kathy questioned if they hit something, but Ian assured her it was a garbage bin and drove off, leaving golden balloons behind.

The episode ended with Jordan lying motionless on the ground where the vehicle struck him.

The dramatic sequence featured a montage of the community celebrating alongside a voiceover from Denise about the fragility of life.

"Do you ever get those moments when you suddenly realise you're alive?" Denise said.

"You catch yourself and you think, god, I'm actually, really here."

Her monologue continued: "I'm walking, I'm breathing. These eyes I'm looking out of are seeing real things, real people.

And this is all really happening. It reminds you that life is terrifying and exhilarating at the same time.

How fragile we all are. How easily everything can be lost."

The shocking twist provoked immediate reactions on social media. One viewer said: "No. No, no, no, no, NO!

They cannot do that to Jordan on the same night Denise finds out she has cancer. That's too much for one family.

Nope."

Another added: "Totally! It was a horrible ending.

Really brutal, no lead-up, nothing – just Jordan laid out on the ground."

Fans speculated on future plotlines, with some theorizing that the accident would bring back character Gray for a transplant storyline.

"Now we know why Gray comes back. Jordan must need a transplant, and Gray is the only one who can help," one viewer said.

Others suggested a fatal outcome: "Or, what if Ian has killed Jordan… which prompts the return of Gray?"
