A Virgin Atlantic flight carrying 241 passengers and 12 crew members from London Heathrow to Montego Bay was forced to divert to Shannon, Ireland on Saturday night after experiencing a technical issue over the Atlantic Ocean.

Smoke began to fill the cabin, and the captain announced an engine failure, prompting the aircraft to turn back.

The plane made an emergency landing at Shannon Airport, where emergency vehicles including six fire units and ambulances were deployed.

Morgan noted that passengers remained calm throughout the ordeal.

After landing, passengers waited at the airport for several hours before a replacement flight returned them to London Heathrow, where hotel accommodations were provided.
