The Black Crowes lead singer Chris Robinson faced boos and audience walkouts after mocking a patriotic crowd chant during a concert in Tampa, Florida, on Sunday, June 1, 2026.

According to TMZ, the incident occurred during the band's "Southern Hospitality Tour" stop.

A graphic of the group's black crow mascot dressed as Uncle Sam appeared on the screen behind the stage.

The visual prompted audience members to start chanting "U. S.

A." just before the band was scheduled to perform their 1990 hit ballad "She Talks to Angels."

"Thanks for the geography lesson," Robinson stated to the crowd.

He then questioned the audience's patriotism, adding, "I don't know what you have to be so proud of right now."

The remarks immediately riled the crowd, causing multiple attendees to boo and exit the venue in protest, according to reports from rova.

Video footage obtained by TMZ captured Robinson delivering a heated response to the remaining audience members who were expressing dissatisfaction.

"... some of us have real faith.

And for those of your f---ing booing us, some of us are not afraid. And we are most assuredly are not f---ing ignorant, so thank you!"

he declared.

The incident triggered immediate backlash from former fans on social media.

One concertgoer posted that half the crowd left when Robinson went political, stating they just wanted to hear good music and were no longer fans.

Robinson, who was born in Atlanta, has previously been critical of conservative rhetoric, despite describing his general stance as detached from political movements.

In a March 2026 interview with Mojo, he said, "I'm not interested in politics."

He elaborated on his personal philosophy regarding authority and global affairs during that interview.

"[But] I know what's right and wrong – and this s--- going on right now is wrong. Look man, I'm almost 60, all right.

I don't tell anyone what to do, because I don't like to be told what to do. But I know right and wrong.

The world's teetering on the edge with all this bulls---, but if there's a street fighting man out there, he'd got to be a young man, right?

But these kids don't seem to give a f---," Robinson stated.

According to ultimateclassicrock. com, The Black Crowes are currently touring alongside opening act Whiskey Myers.
