Emergency crews, including an air ambulance and highways officers, responded to the scene to manage traffic and begin recovery efforts.

The closure extended into Monday as police investigations and extensive barrier repairs continued at the crash site.

National Highways personnel worked to alleviate severe congestion by systematically turning trapped vehicles around from the back of the queue to safely clear the affected motorway section.

Official diversion routes were established for motorists traveling via the A14 westbound, the M1 northbound, and the M6 southbound to bypass the closed area.

National Highways advised commuters to review their travel options before departing for the area.

"If this incident impacts on your planned route, please allow extra journey time," the agency stated.
