An amber heat-health alert is in effect for Nottinghamshire and the wider East Midlands after temperatures reached 33°C on Monday, May 25, 2026.

The UK Health Security Agency issued the warning, which remains active until 5:00 p. m.

The Met Office tracked the heatwave over the bank holiday weekend. Sunday saw peak temperatures of 27°C with clear skies, rising further on Monday.

Overnight conditions remained mild, with minimum temperatures dropping to only 14°C.

Monday marked the peak of the heatwave, with daytime temperatures rapidly rising across Nottinghamshire.

According to local reports, the extreme heat on Monday started at 17°C around 7:00 a. m.

However, there is an increasing risk of late-day precipitation as wind directions shift to the north and northeast.
