The Netherlands is facing an exceptional heatwave, with temperatures expected to exceed 30 degrees Celsius on Tuesday, May 26, 2026.
Meteorologist Berend van Straaten from Weerplaza reports that this period brings unusually hot conditions for May, making Tuesday the peak of the current warm spell.

According to Van Straaten, Tuesday could become the hottest day in the series of warm days, with local temperatures possibly reaching 33 degrees Celsius across the province.
The heatwave criteria require five consecutive days above 25 degrees Celsius, with three of those days exceeding 30 degrees Celsius.
Daily temperatures have remained above 25 degrees Celsius since Friday, with Saturday hitting 30 degrees Celsius and Monday reaching 29.2 degrees Celsius in Woensdrecht.
Despite the high daytime temperatures, cooler air is expected to enter the country on Tuesday evening to prevent uncomfortable nights.

The evening weather transition will lower overnight temperatures to approximately 16 degrees Celsius before conditions moderate slightly the following day.
Temperatures will drop to around 25 degrees Celsius on Wednesday before rising again later in the week.
The long-term forecast indicates sustained dry and sunny conditions across the region.

Van Straaten noted that it will remain dry daily, with plenty of sunshine and temperatures around 27 to 28 degrees Celsius.
