Romania is experiencing an unseasonably warm spell during the final week of spring, with temperatures set to peak at 33 degrees Celsius before a sharp drop arrives.
According to the National Meteorological Administration (ANM), Monday's temperatures ranged between 23 and 30 degrees Celsius nationwide. Bucharest Filaret recorded 28 degrees, while western stations reached 29 degrees.

Warm air will intensify over the following two days, pushing Tuesday's maximum to 31 degrees and bringing the highest temperatures on Wednesday.
ANM General Director Elena Mateescu stated that values will exceed 30 degrees, reaching 33 degrees on Wednesday, which will be the hottest day of the week.
Mateescu added that afternoon atmospheric moisture will rise alongside thermal values, bringing localized storms to mountainous, northern, and central areas by Wednesday evening.

Cold Air Mass Arrives
On Thursday, temperatures will fall abruptly to maximums between 20 and 26 degrees Celsius, accompanied by an increased probability of rain, particularly in southern regions.
Mateescu explained that the cooler weather results from a cold air mass from northern latitudes replacing the warm air, but it will be short-lived.

Longer-term data indicates that the week of May 25 to June 1, 2026, will feature a precipitation deficit, especially in mountains, while average temperatures through mid-June will remain close to normal limits.
