The United States Postal Service is halting regular mail delivery, offering only express shipping options.

Financial institutions and domestic stock markets are closed, while retail stores, gas stations, and supermarkets like Market Basket and Big Y remain open.

Massachusetts law prohibits liquor stores from selling alcohol until after noon on the holiday. Pharmacies inside supermarkets may operate on limited schedules.

Transportation and Parking

MBTA subways and buses are running on Sunday schedules, and the Commuter Rail follows a weekend framework.

Hingham, Hull, and Logan ferries use Sunday schedules, other regional ferries operate on weekend layouts, and the direct Hingham-to-Boston commuter boat is suspended.

In Boston, parking meters are free with no time limits, but other parking enforcement rules remain active. Daytime street cleaning is canceled, while overnight cleaning continues.
