Multiple municipalities across the Rochester region, Philadelphia, and New Jersey are hosting parades and remembrance ceremonies on Monday, May 25, 2026, to observe Memorial Day.
The federally recognized holiday honors United States military personnel who lost their lives during their service.

Regional Events and Celebrations
Regional events featured various community celebrations, including a block party on May 24 at the International Plaza in Rochester, New York.
The free public gathering featured live musical entertainment provided by DJ BigReg & Friends to initiate the holiday weekend events.
Official commemorative activities on May 25 started with an early morning parade and ceremony in the Town of Chili.
The procession traveled from Chili Avenue to the newly constructed Veteran's Memorial at the community center, followed by an afternoon picnic organized by the Chili American Legion.
Similar morning ceremonies and parades took place in the towns of Gates, Spencerport, Fairport, and Victor.
During the Fairport ceremony at Potter Park, organizers read aloud the names of local veterans who died over the past year to honor their service.
The Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Rochester introduced its inaugural Memorial Day Mass inside the Christ Our Light Mausoleum chapel.
The special holiday liturgy provided community members an opportunity to gather for prayer and remembrance.
The City of Rochester held its main parade along East Avenue and Main Street, which required scheduled street closures throughout the morning.

In Pittsford, World War II veteran Louis Iacona served as the grand marshal and guest speaker for the town's remembrance procession and subsequent cemetery ceremony.
The Town of Penfield hosted a ceremony at the Penfield Amphitheater featuring remarks from local veterans and a traditional Presentation of Roses at the memorial monument stone.
The event also included the reading of essays written by local middle school students.
The Town of Greece scheduled its parade at the intersection of Long Pond Road and Janes Road, concluding with a remembrance ceremony at the Town Hall Pavilion.
Meanwhile, other regional communities organized simultaneous morning processions.
In Philadelphia, the United Veterans of Bridesburg marked their 80th annual parade on Monday morning.
Additional Pennsylvania events included a parade in Media, Delaware County, which featured an appearance by R&B singer Ashli Rice.
A memorial procession through downtown Haddonfield, New Jersey, also commenced at 10 a. m.

The march concluded at the local high school for a brief ceremony dedicated to honoring fallen soldiers at their official memorial site.
