Guernsey's Committee for Economic Development has rejected a proposed summer inter-island ferry service between Jersey and Guernsey, leading operator DFDS to officially withdraw the planned route on Tuesday, May 26, 2026.

DFDS had intended to use the vessel Stena Vinga for weekend trips, sailing from Jersey to Guernsey on Friday evenings before continuing to Portsmouth, and returning on Mondays.

The company is now contacting affected customers directly and will issue full refunds for canceled bookings.

To accommodate passenger demand and provide alternative travel options, DFDS will redirect resources to increase sailings to St Malo on dates previously reserved for the inter-island route.

The newly added service dates for St Malo are scheduled for July 6 and 20, as well as August 3, 17, and 24.

An additional sailing is also scheduled for July 2 to meet demand for the Le Mans 24 Hour Classic motorsport event in France.
