Ferry operator DFDS has canceled its proposed summer inter-island ferry service between Jersey and Guernsey after the Guernsey Committee for Economic Development rejected the plan.
The decision was announced on Tuesday, May 26, 2026.

DFDS had intended to use the vessel Stena Vinga for weekend trips.
The service would have sailed from Jersey to Guernsey on Friday evenings before continuing to Portsmouth, with returns on Mondays.
Following the rejection, the company will redirect resources to increase sailings to St Malo on the dates originally reserved for the inter-island route.

Additional St Malo Sailings
DFDS announced that newly added service dates for the St Malo route are scheduled for July 6 and 20, as well as August 3, 17, and 24.
An additional sailing is also scheduled for July 2 to accommodate travelers heading to the Le Mans 24-hour classic motorsport event in France.

DFDS stated that it remains open to future discussions regarding inter-island connectivity. The company noted that it still sees value in enhancing transport links between the islands.
