Actor Sacha Baron Cohen has indicated that his Marvel Cinematic Universe character Mephisto is more likely to return to screens than his iconic comedic persona Borat.
During an interview with Screen Rant published on May 19, 2026, Cohen addressed the future of both franchises while promoting his upcoming Netflix comedy project Ladies First.

The film, which stars opposite Rosamund Pike, launches on May 22.
Cohen debuted as a human-like iteration of the demonic villain Mephisto in the season finale of the 2025 Disney+ Marvel series Ironheart.
In that episode, his character made deals with Parker Robbins and Riri Williams.
When asked whether audiences would see Borat Sagdiyev or Mephisto make a comeback first, Cohen expressed clear doubt regarding the future of his long-running satirical persona.

"I think Mephisto," replied Cohen. "I don't think Borat will ever return."
The actor explained that the massive global fame of the Borat franchise makes the undercover, prank-driven format nearly impossible to execute successfully on camera without being recognized by real-life subjects.
The 2020 sequel Borat Subsequent Moviefilm featured dangerous instances where the actor faced angry protesters and staged a controversial encounter involving political figure Rudy Giuliani.

Although Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige previously teased a future for Mephisto, the studio has not officially announced where the character will appear next in Phase VI of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
