Guitarist Rhea Thompson has announced her departure from the heavy metal band Tailgunner, citing moral and ethical concerns.
The decision came amid online rumors and recently surfaced misconduct allegations against bassist Tom Hewson.

Thompson, from Manchester, England, clarified her position on social media after the band confirmed that Hewson would step away from his role to address the situation.
“I want to ensure my truth is told and set the record straight regarding the current situation with Tailgunner,” Thompson wrote.
She stated she would not address details of the allegations but confirmed she is no longer playing for the band due to moral and ethical concerns.
Thompson joined Tailgunner after their debut album, Guns for Hire, and helped elevate the group’s profile before the release of their sophomore record, Midnight Blitz.
“This decision is something I wish I never would have had to make, but ultimately it was one I felt needed to be made,” she added.
According to Thompson, she discovered her removal from upcoming summer concert lineups through online channels before speaking directly with the remaining members.
“I became aware through the band’s social media activity and later through word of mouth that I have been replaced for the upcoming shows this summer,” she alleged.
The guitarist noted that communication had broken down prior to her reaching out to the band.
“After many ignored communications, I initiated a call to discuss what was going on,” Thompson alleged. “At this point, I had never formally resigned.
I just stated that I am not comfortable playing with the band under the current circumstances.”

The response to her phone call solidified her exit, as logistical replacements had already been finalized.
“Due to the response from this, it became clear to me that stepping back was the only option, particularly as arrangements had already been made for the shows to move forward without my involvement,” she added.
Band Responds to Allegations
Tailgunner released a statement addressing the status of their bassist following Thompson’s public statements. “Tailgunner has been made aware of the recent allegations against Thomas,” the band stated.
The band noted that the bass player maintains his innocence while the internal investigation and public response continue.
“While he denies all wrongdoing, he will be stepping back from the band while this situation is properly addressed,” Tailgunner stated.
The group emphasized their commitment to handling the situation appropriately for all parties involved.
“We as a band take this matter very seriously, and we approach it responsibly and respectfully towards everyone involved,” they added.
As reported by Guitar World, specific details of the allegations against Hewson have not been made public. Tailgunner was mentored and produced by Judas Priest guitarist K.
K. Downing.
