Massive transit disruptions and major highway closures are gridlocking the Greater Toronto Area this weekend, beginning Saturday, May 30, 2026, as the city hosts multiple high-profile concerts and charity events.

The Don Valley Parkway and the Gardiner Expressway will experience complete closures in both directions starting Sunday at 2 a.

to accommodate the annual Bike for Brain Health event, which features over 10,000 cyclists raising funds for Baycrest Hospital.

According to CityNews Toronto, downtown drivers faced additional restrictions on Saturday morning due to the We Walk UHNited march, which forced the closure of several roads including Dundas Street West from Bay Street to Bathurst Street.

Transit users face equally severe hurdles as the TTC suspended Line 2 subway service between Jane and Ossington stations for both Saturday and Sunday to perform critical track upgrades.

As reported by CBC News, crews worked overnight to install a new track switch at Keele station to maintain network safety, with regular operations scheduled to resume on Monday, June 1.

"Critical state of good repair work to keep service safe," said the TTC on social media Saturday.

The transit agency noted that Runnymede, High Park, Lansdowne, and Dufferin stations remain entirely closed, forcing commuters to utilize replacement shuttle buses.

Concertgoers heading to see Bruno Mars at Rogers Stadium or Diljit Dosanjh at the Rogers Centre are also battling major GO Transit suspensions on the Barrie and Lakeshore West lines.

Metrolinx has halted Lakeshore West trains between Aldershot and Mimico, while Barrie line trains are bypassed entirely at Downsview Park GO Station due to extensive track modernization.

To assist stranded music fans, the TTC increased service to Downsview Park and partnered with Live Nation Canada to provide free rides for ticket holders at select stations after the concerts.
