British automaker AC Cars officially unveiled its new AC Cobra GT Coupe on Friday, May 29, 2026. The hardtop vehicle marks the brand's transition toward global volume production.
The car utilizes an aluminum spaceframe chassis and a full carbon fiber body inspired by the 1964 AC A98 Le Mans racecar.

Its design retains the iconic Cobra silhouette with a fixed roof.
Powertrain and Performance
The sports car features a Ford-derived 5.0-liter V8 engine available in multiple configurations. The naturally aspirated entry model produces 450bhp, while the supercharged version delivers 720bhp.
A limited-edition Clubsport variant tops the line-up with an output of 799bhp, restricted to just 99 units.
Power is delivered to the rear wheels via either a six-speed manual or a 10-speed automatic transmission.
The vehicle weighs under 1,600 kilograms in its heaviest supercharged format and achieves a 0-60mph acceleration time of under 3.5 seconds.
Prices start at £234,000 plus taxes for the naturally aspirated option, rising to £256,300 plus taxes for the supercharged variant.
Interior and Global Compliance
The interior mirrors the GT Roadster, combining a cluster of analogue dials with a small digital touchscreen and a three-spoke steering wheel.
Modern creature comforts include electric windows, climate control, and satellite navigation.
To meet global road regulations, the vehicle's width has been expanded to 1.98 meters.
This allows it to be legally driven worldwide rather than being restricted to track use.

Engineering chief Jon Peeke-Vout addressed the decision to retain the large engine configuration despite stricter global emissions standards.
He explained that the design choices were deliberately selected to maintain the historical identity of the vehicle line.
"There is no mistake that it is an AC Cobra," said Peeke-Vout.
He noted that the modular nature of the newly developed vehicle architecture would allow the company to resurrect additional historical models in the future.
Chairman Alan Lubinsky outlined how the fixed-head variant serves as a critical strategic asset for expanding market share in foreign territories like North America and the Middle East.
"This is the most exciting time for AC in its history," said Lubinsky.
Chief Executive Officer David Conza emphasized that the model demonstrates the future operational direction of the firm.
"The AC Cobra GT Coupe is unique in the history of AC Cars and, with production of the GT Roadster now underway, it shows the road ahead for the company," said Conza.
Manufacturing for the fixed-roof Cobra is scheduled to begin next year once the current order book for the Roadster is filled.
