Organizations across the Washington D. C.
region are launching a series of parades, ceremonies, and cultural festivals from Friday, May 22, through Monday, May 25, 2026, to honor fallen military service members for Memorial Day weekend.

Official commemorations include the National Memorial Day Parade along Constitution Avenue on Monday and the National Memorial Day Concert on Sunday evening at 8 p.
m. on the west lawn of the U.
S. Capitol.
The public can attend the concert in person or visit the National Mall memorials, though weather forecasts show a high likelihood of rain throughout the holiday weekend.
The annual "Flags In" tradition occurred on Thursday at Arlington National Cemetery, where approximately 250,000 small American flags were placed at grave sites by service members.
Visitors at the cemetery are also invited to place flowers at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and on headstones throughout the grounds.

The annual Rolling Thunder motorcycle demonstration will bring thousands of riders from the Pentagon parking lots through the National Mall from Saturday through Monday to raise awareness for prisoners of war and missing service members.
Local governments are hosting regional parades and festivals across Maryland and Virginia, including events in Bowie, Rockville, Annapolis, Falls Church, and Alexandria.
