Matt Damon has entered negotiations to star in an upcoming untitled science-fiction film directed by Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, known collectively as the Daniels.
He would replace Ryan Gosling, who exited the project due to scheduling conflicts and creative differences.

The Universal Pictures film features a narrative involving global warming, time travel, and a potential superhero angle across two separate timelines.
Production is set to begin in Los Angeles by late summer or early autumn to secure a California tax credit, with plans to cast younger actors for the wider ensemble.
This marks the Daniels' first directorial project since their 2022 Oscar-winning film Everything Everywhere All at Once.
The development process was delayed as the script was streamlined from three timelines down to two.
Daniels on Creative Process
Co-director Daniel Kwan explained the lengthy development during a recent interview with Collider.
"The only thing you need to know is we are trying to do what we have always done, which is listen very deeply to what is happening in the world and try to internalise that and make something really fun and entertaining that kind of reflects that story back to the world," he said.

Kwan noted that the complexity of current global events required extra time to integrate into a single narrative.
"So, one of the reasons why it's taking so long is because what we're feeling and what we're hearing from the world is very complex and really nuanced, and there's so much paradox," he added.
The director compared their deliberate creative process to varying growth rates in nature.
"Some trees grow really quickly within a couple of years, some trees take a very long time, and sometimes the work that we do takes a little bit longer," Kwan said.
He outlined the film's tone as "fun sci-fi, action comedy with a big heart. Very existential.
