Eight fire engines were scrambled to an industrial site on Moss Lane near Lostock Gralam, Northwich, after a massive blaze erupted in a yard at 9:15 p.

m. on May 20, 2026.

The incident engulfed approximately five HGV trailers, including one loaded with plastic materials, prompting an emergency response from across the county.

Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service dispatched crews from Northwich, Middlewich, Crewe, Holmes Chapel, Winsford, Lymm, Knutsford, and Powey Lane alongside a water bowser and a specialized Command Unit.

Emergency teams utilized four sets of breathing apparatus, two main jets, and two hose reel jets to suppress the flames.

The water bowser arrived by 10:48 p. m.

to secure additional supply.

The firefighting presence was scaled down to three engines by 11:10 p. m.

as the situation stabilized.

A spokesperson for the Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service stated: "Firefighters are currently dealing with a large fire at an industrial site in Northwich involving approximately five HGV trailers in a yard, one of which contains plastic material.

Crews wearing four sets of breathing apparatus are using two main jets and two hose reel jets to tackle the fire."

First responders managed to control the main body of the fire before midnight, though teams remained on-site for several hours to secure the area.

A spokesperson added: "Crews remained on scene throughout the night, continuing to dampen down the fire with two hose reel jets."

Personnel deployed thermal imaging cameras to inspect the debris for hidden hotspots prior to their final departure from the location at roughly 2:15 a.

m.

Cheshire Police assisted at the industrial estate during the height of the incident to monitor public safety.

A police spokesperson stated: "Emergency services are currently dealing with reports of a large fire at an industrial site near Northwich.

The fire, involving a number of trailers, was reported at a premises on Moss Lane, Lostock Gralam. There are no reports of any injuries at this time."

Authorities confirmed that no individuals sustained injuries during the overnight blaze. No details regarding the initial cause of the fire have been released.
