The story follows the armored bounty hunter Mandalorian, played by Pedro Pascal. He receives a dangerous task from his employer Ward, portrayed by Sigourney Weaver.
The mission requires the Mandalorian and his small companion Grogu to track down the Hutts, a slug lord family.

Specifically, they target Jabba the Hutt's son, Rotta the Hutt, voiced by Jeremy Allen White.
The plot escalates into an intergalactic gladiator scenario on the planet Nal Hutta. A double-cross forces Grogu to take the lead during a lengthy, nearly silent survival sequence.
The film features a musical score by Ludwig Göransson. The tactile landscape is heavily inspired by traditional Jim Henson-style puppetry and practical creature designs.
