Adam Scott announced at the BAFTA TV Awards on May 10, 2026, that the third season of Apple TV+'s thriller series Severance will premiere much quicker than the three-year gap experienced between seasons one and two.
According to production details from 9to5Mac and Production Weekly, filming for the third season is scheduled to span nine months, beginning in April 2026 and running through December 2026.

The series is adapting its internal workflows and introducing new directorial voices alongside director Ben Stiller to streamline post-production and avoid prior delays.
The scheduling adjustment comes after the show faced a 36-month delay between the February 2022 series premiere and the subsequent season, caused by industry strikes and creative revisions.
The sophomore season finished its run with a finale in March 2025 that drew 2 million viewers, as reported by Deadline.
Pre-production for the third season commenced in January 2026 to finalize scripts before the cameras rolled on the estimated 10-episode order.
Series creators Dan Erickson and Ben Stiller have already locked in a complete four-season narrative blueprint, maintaining the principal cast to eliminate extended talent searches.
Production Timeline and Strategy
Season 2 finale aired March 20-21, 2025, with the Cold Harbor episode. Season 3 filming runs April to December 2026, followed by post-production from January to June 2027.

The expected premiere is summer to late 2027, pending Apple TV+ announcement.
"Much sooner" was the specific description used by Adam Scott regarding the new release timeline during his public address on May 10, 2026.
The series lead indicated that the crew recognizes viewer exhaustion regarding extended production hiatuses while attempting to preserve the creative quality that previously earned a 95% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
"We're always trying to shorten the amount of time between seasons. The mystery and the work is intricate and important, but we know fans have been incredibly patient.
Season 3 is designed to deliver much sooner," said Adam Scott.
Co-stars Britt Lower and Patricia Arquette have similarly committed to maintaining production momentum for the upcoming season.
