Morena Baccarin has joined the cast of the upcoming live-action film "Masters of the Universe" as the Sorceress of Castle Grayskull.
The announcement was made by Amazon MGM Studios and Mattel.
The film is scheduled to debut in U. S.
theaters nationwide on June 5, 2026. It carries a substantial budget estimated between $170 million and $200 million.
Travis Knight, known for his work on action films, directs the adaptation. The project modernizes the classic 1980s Mattel toy line and animated franchise.
Cast and Characters
The film features an expansive ensemble cast. Nicholas Galitzine plays Prince Adam/He-Man, while Camila Mendes portrays Teela.
Jared Leto takes on the role of Skeletor, and Idris Elba plays Man-At-Arms/Duncan. Alison Brie is cast as Evil-Lyn.
Baccarin's character, the Sorceress, is described as the moral anchor and vital force of Eternia. This contrasts with previous incarnations where the character was sometimes portrayed as passive.
Baccarin attended the official film premiere on May 18, 2026, at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Los Angeles.
She shared behind-the-scenes content on Instagram, generating over 54,200 likes within hours.
The marketing campaign recently entered a critical phase, with official character posters featuring Baccarin circulating on social media platforms.
The promotional materials included the phrase "The Sorceress has arrived."
Industry analysts anticipate additional television spots, featurettes, and a possible full-length trailer in the coming weeks. Pre-ticket sales reflect significant demand for the film.
